Racing
Grandiva continues to race well for Gerald Ryan and gained black type when racing at Ipswich in the Gai Waterhouse Listed Classic over 1350m. Well ridden by Jason Taylor, Grandiva was held up for a run in the straight, and only got clear with 100m to run. Once she saw daylight she charged to the line to finish 4th. She will now go to a Fillies and Mares 1400m at the Sunshine Coast, on Caloundra Cup Day.
She’s Choice raced well in her first start this preparation, finishing 3rd at Canterbury after being locked away behind the leaders for the whole race. Next start was at Gosford where she featured in the “no race” decision by the Stewards. Gerald is looking to take her to Grafton for the Inglis Bonus race for 2yo’s.
Greta’s Rose has been disappointing in her runs this preparation and we will terminate her lease.
Queen Asa had her first run this preparation over the unsuitable 1000m at Bendigo, and as expected got back in running, scouted wide on the corner and worked to the line. Trainer, Michael Kent will now step her up to more suitable distances.
Grand Lady had her first run since coming back from Queensland, and showed she still disliked wet tracks when she going through the motions at Newcastle over 900m on the 12 June. We will need to hold her back until tracks dry.
Training/Agisting
Musical Lady has arrived at trainer, Gerald Ryan’s stables, a much stronger filly than when she went out. She did particularly well during her break, growing and bulking up.
The Tiger Hill/Glorious Lady filly has been booked to come into David Payne at Rosehill for her first look at stable life.
Djinda has had short let up at Limitless Lodge and will come back into work Monday, 28 June. We expect her at Randwick with Jason Coyle mid July.
Zedlion had an easy trial at Wyong on Friday, 18 June and will now go to Rosehill for a further trial on Tuesday, 6 July.
Sardar is currently being prepared at Fairhill Farm for a return to pre training, once the partnership is filled. He will go to David Payne at Rosehill.
Tech’s Gem will rejoin Greg McFarlane’s stables at Rosehill early July after a 2 month break. She has grown nicely during her break and is a mature filly.
The Hawk Wing/Miss Sprayette filly has been in Gerald Ryan’s Murwillumbah stables for the past few weeks and has settled in well. A strong filly, mentally and physically, she should be ready to trial late July/early August.
Calena has also been booked on a float early July to further her education with Geoff O’Brien at Quirindi.
Hell Raiser Boy is in his 5th week of work and is handling it all well.
Happy Racing Graeme
